Once again Esquimalt is getting ready for the celebration of Buccaneer Days. A search through ancient documents held at the Esquimalt Municipal Archives reveals some of the history behind this annual celebration. For well over 60 years, Esquimalt held community events at this time of the year, while each May, the City of Victoria celebrated May Day with the crowning of a May Queen and a May Pole Dance.

The Esquimalt Chamber of Commerce was established on 26 February 1947 as a volunteer, Not-For-Profit Corporation under the Boards of Trade Act, Part 2. Our membership have made it clear they seek advocacy, networking and how to opportunities to help with their bottom line. In response, we have developed a core program that is conducted over the year.
